LightSmyth is a privately held corporation founded in June of 2000 to develop innovative nanophotonic products. Target areas include integrated photonics, free-space diffractives, and pure photonic crystalTM decorative products. LightSmyth products and innovations are centered around application of holographic and diffractive principles combined with manufacturing via state-of-the-art semiconductor patterning tools such as Deep UltraViolet (DUV) steppers/scanners.

LightSmyth completed its Series A venture capital financing in January 2001 with lead investment provided by Intel Capital. Additionally, LightSmyth has received multiple contracts from agencies of the U.S. Federal Government including MDA, DARPA-MTO and NASA.

LightSmyth has established a leadership position in its specialty areas and has received 35+ patents for its designs and innovations in integrated filters, multiplexers, optical interconnects, advanced surface gratings, spectral labeling, and consumer articles. LightSmyth’s growing IP portfolio provides a strategic advantage in multiple markets staking out broad claims to lithographically fabricated holographic and diffractive devices.

LightSmyth markets its own lines of products especially in areas of free-space diffractives and consumer items.
